For many patients, osteoarthritis can cause debilitating pain in the hip. Depending on your pain and activity level, you may consider having a hip replacement. The surgeons at Davis Hospital and Medical Center have performed thousands of these joint replacements. Many of today’s hip replacement procedures are performed using patient-specific implants and minimally invasive techniques that reduce pain, shorten the recovery period, and improve a patient’s outlook.
Arthroscopic Treatments for Athletic Injuries (Ankles, Knees & Shoulders)
Whether you’re a professional athlete, weekend warrior, or less active than you used to be, there’s always a chance of having at least one injury of the ankle, knee, or shoulder. When an injury happens, your physician may refer you to an orthopedic surgeon at Davis Hospital and Medical Center.
Arthroscopy is a type of surgery used to evaluate, diagnose, and treat joint problems. During arthroscopy, the surgeon makes a small incision near the affected joint. An arthroscope (small, pencil-sized tool) is inserted through the incision into the joint. A small lens and magnification/lighting system at the end of the arthroscope transmits images back to a screen in the operating room. This allows the surgeon to examine the joint without making a large incision. Depending on the nature of the injury and procedure, tissues in the joint may even be repaired at this time. Services include:
- Knee arthroscopy for torn meniscus and other conditions
- Shoulder arthroscopy for damaged rotator cuff or tendinitis
- ACL reconstruction – both traditional and all-inside techniques
- Multi-ligament knee reconstruction
- Stabilization of dislocated patella
- Cartilage restoration
- Rotator cuff repair
- Shoulder decompression and Mumford procedure
- Shoulder stabilization procedures
Treatment for Sports Injuries
Treatment for sports injuries may include those listed on this page: orthopedic surgery, joint injection, physical therapy, and more. Many sports medicine physicians at Davis Hospital and Medical Center are athletes (or former athletes) themselves. That being the case, your physician may be able to provide custom-tailored treatment options designed to help you get back in the game as quickly as possible. Joint Injections & Non-Operational Treatments
When at all possible, both patients and physicians prefer to avoid surgery. Joint injections and other non-surgical treatments may be available for:
- Trigger Finger
