Davis Hospital Open New Patient Tower
June 18, 2009

On Thursday, June 18, Davis Hospital and Medical Center celebrated the completion of its two-year construction project by cutting the ribbon and dedicating a new $36 million, three-story patient tower. The project includes a new main entrance, admitting area, gift shop, and streamlined outpatient services area. Also included are a 14-bed intensive care unit, 24-bed Women’s Surgical / Telemetry Unit, new four-bed Cardiac Cath Recovery unit, and new Cath Lab that is opening July 15. A 20 bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit opening Fall of 2009 will be housed on the third floor of the patient tower. A total of 58 additional beds were added to Davis Hospital. State-of-the-art technology, security and amenities include bedside charting, electronic medical records, advanced monitoring systems, card access security entry, wireless Internet access, “At Your Request” dining services, energy-efficient features throughout, and ergonomically designed rooms and work areas for the healthcare team.

The week-long celebration included events for employees, physicians, medical office staff members, and a community open house and health fair. “Our number one priority has always been to provide high quality care to the patients we serve.” Said Michael Jensen, Davis Hospital and Medical Center CEO. “We are thrilled that the completion of this expansion project allows for us to provide that care in such a beautiful new facility.”

Groundbreaking for the tower expansion was held on May 23, 2007. The project’s architect was Perkins and Will of Dallas, Texas; the builder was RJ Griffin of Nashville.
