The Chamber award recognizes the innovative excellence of TomoTherapy Cancer Treatment Services at Davis Hospital, which uses first-in-Utah technology to attack cancerous tumors with targeted beams of radiation that minimize collateral damage to surrounding tissues and reduce side effects.
“The Davis Chamber is pleased to honor Davis Hospital with the Award for Innovation,” said Jim Smith, president and CEO of the Davis Chamber of Commerce. “It is exciting to acknowledge how the TomoTherapy Cancer Treatment Services at Davis Hospital are having a tremendously positive impact on our community and our residents.”
Davis Hospital and Medical Center is the first hospital in Utah to offer TomoTherapy, giving residents of Davis, Weber, Salt Lake and surrounding counties quick and easy access to life-saving treatment. The TomoTherapy system is operated by highly trained doctors and physicists who use its unique CT scanner design to deliver radiation continuously from all angles around the patient, delivering precise beams that conform to tumors and minimize damage to healthy tissue. It is a 21st-century radiation therapy that combines the precision of computers and experience of skilled medical staff to deliver the finest, most precise cancer treatment available.
Mike Jensen, CEO, Davis Hospital and Medical Center, said, “We are extremely fortunate to have technology of this caliber with its life-saving capabilities in our community.
