Davis Hospital Announces $36 Million Expansion

Officials at Davis Hospital and Medical Center announced today a major construction project totaling more than $36 million. The announcement was part of a joint project, which includes a sister hospital, Jordan Valley Medical Center in West Jordan. The two projects will total approximately $82 million.

Davis Hospital and Medical Center is located in one of the fastest growing areas of Utah. The expansion and renovation project includes a new three-story, 66,000 square-foot tower. Sixty-seven new beds will be added to the hospital, with highlights that include a new four-bed cardiac catheterization recovery area, a brand new 14-bed Intensive Care Unit, expanded pediatric services and the conversion of semi-private hospital rooms to private rooms.

"For 30 years, our hospital has been a vital part of the community in Davis County. We are very excited about the opportunity to improve our hospital, but more importantly about what that means for our patients," said Michael Jensen, CEO of Davis Hospital and Medical Center. "In addition to expanding our capacity to serve more people, we will improve the hospital experience, by providing private rooms for each of our patients. This growth is the result of our ongoing commitment to become not only the best hospital in Northern Utah, but the best acute-care community hospital in the country."

Davis Hospital and Medical Center, which opened in 1976, is a 136-bed, acute-care facility located in Northern Davis County. The hospital has 780 employees and 370 physicians on its medical staff. Davis Hospital specializes in women's services, emergency care, orthopedics, general surgery, cardiology services, and many other specialties.
